What the transfer times mean
The engine uses editorial planning allowances between Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna, Burgas and Bansko. Rental-car and public-transport allowances are deliberately rounded and include no promise of a particular service. Mixed mode sits between them and assumes selective car hire, a tour or transfer where useful.
Traffic, roadworks, station transfers and seasonal timetables can move the real number. Confirm exact trains with BDZ and exact buses with the relevant operator before buying non-refundable accommodation.

How many days do I need for a Bulgaria itinerary?
Three days works for one gateway city, five days can combine Sofia and Plovdiv, and seven days supports a balanced inland loop. Allow 10–14 days when the Black Sea coast is important. The planner reduces the number of bases when you choose a relaxed pace.
